What is TheImprovOrchestra?

Imagine multiple musicians gathering for a night of improvisational music-making led by a conductor who will guide us on a different journey every session...no sheet music, no set list, no preconceptions...all made up, on the spot with the conductor steering the bus and the musicians adding & subtracting as needed...all are invited and all will play somehow someway as we wander together.

Looking forward: After a few sessions to get the kinks out and develop a good flow and framework, we eventually will add an educational component for young / newer / advancing musicians who want more experience playing with others. When we change keys or tempo or emotion or flow it will challenge everyone to listen, collaborate and engage. Inexperienced musicians will be able to participate in a low risk / no pressure environment to hone their improv / soloing / collaborating skills. It should develop courage, confidence and camaraderie as we go...

What is it?

1) Musicians making beautiful, unusual, flowing, melodic, emotional noise with other people, led by a open-minded, thought-provoking & challenging conductor...

2) Open to anyone that wants to expand their musical experience and be educated about the quiet conversation between music-makers...glances, nods, hand gestures, kicks and jumps...its gonna be loud and lively!
